This document will walk you through the initial configuration of the Netscape 6.2 email client. Unless otherwise indicated, you may leave default settings unchanged.

Open Netscape 6.2 and go to Tasks>Mail & Newsgroups to launch the email software.
Click once on Local Folders then click on Create a new account . This will launch the Account Wizard.
Make sure that the ISP or email provider button is selected.
Click on Next.


ype in your full name and email address.
Click on Next.
Select IMAP as your type of incoming server.
Enter mail.42inc.com as the name of your incoming and outgoing server (SMTP).
Note , some ISPs block outgoing (SMTP) email - if you are having trouble sending email after you setup your program, you will need to ask your ISP for the name of their SMTP server and use that name. For example, if you use SBC Pac Bell DSL for your Internet connectivity, you would use : smtp.sbcglobal.net for your SMTP server.
Click on Next.


Make sure that the User Name field contains your full email address, not just your name.
Click on Next.
You may leave the Account Name as your email address, or change it to anything you want.
Click on Next.


Confirm that the information is correct. If it is not correct, click on the "Back" button to make any necessary changes.
If all information is correct, click on "Finish" to exit the wizard.
Your mail account will appear in the left side of the Netscape Mail window.
Click once on your newly created account and then View settings for this account to personalize your settings.


Account Settings: Complete the identity fields with your information, using the example as a guide. If you would like a signature to be automatically included in all of your outgoing emails, click on the box to "Attach this signature" and "Choose" to locate your signature file. You may create a signature file using notepad or other word processor.
Click on Server Settings.
Server Settings: Make sure that the boxes are checked as in the example above, especially Use secure connection (SSL) . Check the boxes for Clean up (Expunge) Inbox on Exit and Empty Trash on Exit for best maintenance of your deleted and trashed mail.
Click on Copies and Folders.


These are the default settings. Only change them if you have specific requirements. Otherwise, leave the default settings.
Click on Addressing
You do not need to make any changes to these settings.
Click on Offline & Disk Space.


Offline & Disk Space: Use this section to set up offline preferences, if you intend to use your email folders offline. You can also specify maximum messages sizes for download. In general, this section can be left with the default values.
Click on Outgoing Server (SMTP).
Outgoing Server (SMTP) Settings: Enter mail.42inc.com for your Server Name. Ensure that the User Name is your full email address, and that the Use secure connection (SSL) is set on Always.
Click on OK.
When you check mail for the first time, Netscape will download any existing IMAP folders. Go to File>SubscribeÉ and subscribe to any folders of subfolders that are not checked.
Note :If you are using Norton Antivirus and having problems sending email, please disable the "scan outgoing email" setting. Since 42inc Mail provides full Anti-virus protection you do not need to use Norton Antivirus for your email.
Congratulations! You have now configured Netscape Mail 6.2 to send and receive mail from the mail.42inc.com IMAP server.
