Eudora 5: This document will walk you through the initial configuration of the Eudora 5 email client. Unless otherwise indicated, you may leave default settings unchanged.

Launch the Eudora 5.1 program.
 Go to Tools>Options. The Options box will appear.

Click on the Getting Started icon and enter your user information. Use the example to the left as a guide.
 Make sure the Allow Authentication box is checked.

Click on the Checking Mail icon. The Mail Server and Login Name fields should already be completed.
 Make sure that the Save password box is not checked.
 In the Secure Sockets when Receiving field, click on the drop-down arrow and select Required, STARTTLS . 

Click on the Incoming Mail icon.
 Select the radio button to use IMAP as your server configuration.
 Note that when switching between POP and IMAP, certain options in this window will change. This is expected.

Click on the "Sending Mail" icon.
 If the Secure Sockets when Sending field does not indicate Required, STARTTLS use the drop down arrow to change it.
 Click on the OK button.
Note , some ISPs block outgoing (SMTP) email. If you are having trouble sending email after you setup your program, you will need to ask your ISP for the name of their SMTP server and use that name.  For example, if you use SBC Pac Bell DSL for your Internet connectivity, you would use : smtp.sbcglobal.net for your SMTP server.

Notice that <Dominant> has now appeared in your Mailboxes window.
 Right-click on <Dominant> and select Refresh mailbox list in order to retrieve your IMAP folders. You will be prompted for your password.
 The following folders will appear: Drafts, Inbox, Sent Items, Trash. Other folders you have created on the IMAP server will also appear.

Note :If you are using Norton Antivirus and having problems sending email, please disable the "scan outgoing email" setting. Since 42inc Mail provides full Anti-virus protection you do not need to use Norton Antivirus for your email.

Congratulations! You have now completed the initial setup  of Eudora 5.1 to send and receive mail from the mail.42inc.com IMAP server. If desired, you may now personalize Eudora settings for your use. Be careful not to change any settings specified in this document.
